To me, I loved playing the game, but coaching it gave me a completely different thrill. Matching wits with other coaches, making critical decisions in the heat of the moment was exhilarating. Teaching was my strongest suit though. I love to teach and teaching the game came easy to me. The biggest misconception about youth coaching is that it’s all about winning. It’s actually about building character and teaching kids how to handle failure. In a world where everyone gets a trophy, sport is one of the few places where you get immediate, honest feedback. If you don’t practice your free throws, you miss. If you don’t study the playbook, you get lost, and you’ll find yourself sitting on the bench in your RUSH Band 50th Anniversary “Fly By Night” 3D Progressive Rock Legacy Tumbler rather than playing on the court. That discipline carries over into every other aspect of life. Seeing a kid finally ‘get it’—whether it’s a proper swing or a defensive rotation—is more rewarding than any championship trophy I ever won as a player. It’s about the long-term growth of the person, not just the athlete.

I played and coached baseball. The misconception is that baseball is boring. Let me do give and take with that one. First, it can be boring to those who’ve never played. And today’s game IS boring because there is no emphasis on anything more than hitting the ball very hard to your strength. The take is that baseball does not have to be boring at all. Learn just a little about the game and you’ll see the chess match between coaches, pitcher and hitter and defenses. And the OLD game was very interesting. The bunt, the hit and run, stealing bases. All things that today’s game lacks sorely. They’ve sabermetric’d all the excitement out of baseball, leaving fans in the stands to sit in their RUSH Band 50th Anniversary “Fly By Night” 3D Progressive Rock Legacy Tumbler while the game crawls along. I’d bet that younger players have never seen a pro player execute a good push bunt. The metrics of baseball have created a game that is slow and boring with a lot of strike outs and home runs.
(RUSH Band 50th Anniversary “Fly By Night” 3D Progressive Rock Legacy Tumbler)The Los Angeles Rams were in the hunt for the NFC number one seed for most of the season only to lose out in their duel with the Seattle Seahawks. It’s not common for wild-card qualifiers to win the Super Bowl but the Rams are one of the strongest squads ever and will be looking to emulate the 2020 Buccaneers. Carolina won 31-28 at home in Week 13 as Bryce Young threw three touchdown passes, but the Rams won’t be caught napping in their RUSH Band 50th Anniversary “Fly By Night” 3D Progressive Rock Legacy Tumbler against a grossly inferior Panthers team twice in six weeks. The league’s top-ranked scoring attack will roll.
